I have successfully installed Windows 10 within the virtual PC worostation a few other programs. Everything seemed to be going just fine until all of a sudden, I was faced with a black screen within Vmware. I have noticed that there is suddenly, a thumbnail bar at the bottom which seems screen show my virtual PC powering on and off.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Vmware 4 times now without it making any difference. Is there any advice you can offer with regards to what the problem may be? I guess worst-case scenario is I would need to reinstall Windows 10 within Vmware, however this will take a fair bit of time and I still would not be aware of what I did that caused the problem in the first place. If you are already using Windows 10 as your base, it might be cleaner and free to use the built in Hyper-V - Workstation is a type 2 hypervisor, Hyper-V is type 1, bare metal and as I noted is also free.

For now at least it is VMware I would like to stick with. Since you are only testing this I would give it 1 vmwarw and 4GB ram, virtual machines work better with less sounds ironic, but trust me.

I'm trying to install Bionic Beaver The host is Windows 10 Enterprise v bit. I downloaded the ISO from release. Then I opened VMware and created a new virtual machine. In VMware, I selected "Typical recommended ", then "I will install the operating system later" I don't want Easy Install this time, but it's the same - it still blackscreens , then went through a few steps as usual.
I set VMware to store the virtual disk as a single file and set it to 32 GB. I left all other settings as their defaults. Then I started the VM. It went through a few screens that are familiar to me, and nothing showed up after hearing the familiar "drum" sound.
I only have a mouse that I can move in and out of VMware. On grub boot select advanced options, failproof low resolution video options and some times can run this way, but not consistent results.
